Yoko Ono
born 1933, in Tokyo, Japan; lives and works in Franklin (Catskill Mountains), New York, United States
Yoko Ono’s collaborative practice encompasses installation, performance, experimental film, music, and social activism. She has been at the forefront of the avant-garde since the early 1960s when she participated in the Fluxus movement in New York. Ono spent her childhood living between Japan and the United States. Her pioneering conceptual works have gained greater recognition as performance has become more widely accepted as a visual art form.
