Wang Qingsong
born 1966, in Daqing, China; lives and works in Beijing, China
Wang Qingsong is a leading figure in Chinese photography. He studied oil painting at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts from 1991 to 1993. Upon graduation, He moved to Beijing and pivoted from oil painting to photography for his main practice. His highly staged photographs provide reflections on the sociopolitical conditions of the rapidly changing Chinese society.
