Wang Gongxin
born 1960 in Beijing, China; lives and works in Beijing, China and New York, United States
Wang Gongxin is considered one of the forerunners of new media art in China. His video installations often humorously take on social and cultural clichés and misconceptions of traditional Chinese culture. The development of his early video works was initiated during a formative period in the 1990s spent in New York. The artist received a BFA from the Beijing Capital Normal University in 1982.
