Reza Aramesh
born 1970, in Ahwaz, Iran; lives and works in London, England
Reza Aramesh uses sculpture, photographs, and performances to explore how societal norms around race, class, and sexuality define identity in a postcolonial context. His work addresses political conflicts and engages with western art history by using images from the news media related to war and subjugation. Aramesh moved to London in 1986. Midway through earning a PhD in chemistry, he decided to become an artist and graduated with an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London in 1997.
