Rashid Rana
born 1968, in Lahore, Pakistan; lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan
Rashid Rana is known for his conceptual sculptures, videos, and photo composite collages that provocatively deconstruct social histories and cultural disjunctions to reflect the duality of our times. He frequently incorporates mirror images and geometry into his works as a means to critique cultural assumptions and illuminate social biases. Rana received a BFA from the National College of Arts in Lahore and an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. After his studies, the artist returned to Pakistan and became the founding faculty member and is currently Dean of the School of Visual Arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University in Lahore.
