Minjung Kim
born 1962, in Gwangju, South Korea; lives and works in the United States and France
Minjung Kim is best known for her ink paintings on layered paper. At the age of six, she began studying traditional painting and was taught by master watercolorist Kang Yeon Gyun, among others, and she began studying traditional calligraphy at thirteen. Kim earned a BA and an MA from Hongik University in Seoul. She then moved to Milan in and studied under artists Maurizio Bottarelli and Diego Esposito at the Brera Academy, graduating in 1991.
