Miao Xiaochun
born 1964, in Wuxi, China; lives and works in Beijing, China
Miao Xiaochun’s artistic practice encompasses photography, video, painting, embroidery, and sculpture and is driven by the rapid changes within Chinese society and challenges its shifting attitudes and mores. Miao earned an MA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing in 1989 and an MA from the Kunsthochschule Kassel, Germany, in 1999 and serves as head of the Photography and Digital Media department at CAFA.
