Lin Yilin is best known for his site-specific performances that use the motif of a brick wall to address the issue of widespread gentrification in urban centers throughout China. During this period, Lin produced site-specific installations, public artworks, and performances to express his perspective on Guangzhou’s swift social and political transformation. Lin earned a degree in sculpture from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1987. In 2001, he moved to New York.
