Huma Mulji
born 1970, in Karachi, Pakistan; lives and works in Bristol, England
Huma Mulji’s art offers witty observations on the social and economic climate of Pakistan. Her often-humorous sculptures, installations, and photographs challenge the cultural status quo through an examination of the disparity between tradition and economic progress in contemporary Pakistani society. Mulji earned a BFA in sculpture and printmaking from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi in 1995 and an MFA in New Media Arts in 2010 from the Transart Institut, Donau-Universität Krems in Austria. After returning to Pakistan, she taught at the School of Visual Arts and Design at Beaconhouse National University in Lahore. Currently she teaches at the University of the West of England.
