Huang Yan
born 1966, in Jilin City, China; lives and works in Beijing, China
Huang Yan’s reinterpretation of traditional Chinese landscape painting challenges conventional artistic practices and creates a dialogue between the body and nature, and the past and present. Inn1999, he began creating photographs of Song dynasty landscape compositions that were painted directly onto the human body. Huang studied at the Changchun Normal Academy and moved to Beijing in 1987.
