Cao Fei is one of the leading contemporary multimedia artists from China. The artist studied at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, receiving a BFA in 2001. Her artistic practice encompasses video, photography, installation, and projects set in the online virtual world Second Life. A common thread across these various mediums is the disjunction between fantasy and reality and the disillusionment of China’s youth within an increasingly materialistic society.
