Cang Xin
born 1967, in Boutou, Inner Mongolia, China; lives and works in Beijing, China
Cang Xin’s shamanistic performances and photographs serve as conduits between the physical and spiritual realms. Graduating from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1988, Cang began his professional art practice as a member of the Beijing East Village collective in the early 1990s. During this time, he began to integrate photography into his work as a means of documenting his performance projects, as did many of his contemporaries.
